We all know that blueberries are among the most nutritious berries, but have you ever considered growing in pots? Yes, I know, it sounds impossible, but trust me, it’s not! There are requirements that you must follow, otherwise your attempt may fail. So, if you want to find out the 10 requirements for growth of blueberries in pots, read on!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First requirement: The choice of vase. Excellent results have been obtained with anti-spiraling pots or air pruning. Alternatively you can use a classic plastic or terracotta pot. The pot must be large enough to contain the root system of the plant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Second requirement: the choice of land. The soil must be acidic, have a pH below 5.5. If not, you will have to add some sulfuric acid or citric acid to lower the pH.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Third requirement: the substrate. The substrate must consist of peat, sand and perlite in equal parts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fourth requirement: the plant. The plant must be purchased from a specialized nursery. Make sure it is healthy and has a well-developed root system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fifth requirement: irrigation. Blueberries need a lot of water, so you will need to water your plant regularly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sixth requirement: fertilization. Fertilizing must be done regularly during the growing period. Use a specific fertilizer for acidophilic plants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seventh requirement: pruning. Pruning must be done during the winter, eliminating dry or damaged branches. You can also remove old branches to encourage new ones to grow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eighth requirement: the position. The plant must be placed in a sunny position, but not too exposed to direct sun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ninth requirement: protection. Blueberries are vulnerable to various diseases and pests, so you will need to protect them with specific products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tenth requirement: the collection. Blueberries are ready to pick when they have reached a dark blue hue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you make sure you apply these guidelines correctly, you will get plants and fruits that your neighbors will envy!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
